Different flooring has different cleaning and maintenance
requirements. Though the basic processes of cleaning are similar and can be
applied to a variety of flooring, there are some differences in maintenance
equipment. For instance, wood flooring can be polished by yourself at home
while stone flooring requires heavy stone polishing equipment. When cleaning
any flooring it is a good idea to sweep first, then wet mop the floor. Sweeping
first ensures that all the dust and debris is removed when you wipe with a wet
mop. Otherwise, if you wipe without sweeping you are going do more damage than
good. Because all the dust and debris will become stuck to the floor like mud.
Moreover, before embarking on any cleaning spree it is
better to determine the nature of the soiling. Because you would not want to
clean a simple stain using a really strong acidic material that would
completely destroy your floor polish. For simple soiling of grease or dust use
light alkaline cleaning products because these will get rid of the stain
without hurting the polish. Marble floor cleaning in London is very easy
because all it requires is a mop and a bucket of light alkaline cleaning
product.
Other than cleaning you can do some other things to preserve
the glory of your floor. For instance, wear separate soft shoes inside the
house. This will limit the amount of soiling, dust and debris around the house.
You could also try adding door mats to entrance outside your main door and
hallway of your home and make sure you and all your family members wipe their
feet before stepping on to the hallway floor after entering the house. Having a
mat at the entrance and one in the hallway ensures a lot of the soiling is
wiped away before coming into the main house.
